I got bad sunburn?! help?!?

i just got sunburn the other day really bad. now i need to make it less red in two days because i have a dance recital comming up. what should i do to make the sunburn heal faster!? and how long will it take to heal with the method you suggest?
I got bad sunburn?! help?!?
The most soothing stuff I've ever used is milk of magnesia (i.e.: Maalox). It's a medicine used for stomach problems (over the counter). Nothing has ever worked better than that. Try to get the none-flavored kind (try not to get cherry, for example) and just put a coat of it on your sunburn. It will exponentially get better. It feels really good too :) Note that it'll feel a bit sticky until it dries up, then you'll be able to put on a shirt without it getting too much medicine on it.

When I got a bad sunburn I put the milk on twice a day. One during the day and one at night.

If your skin is really really bad and has open blisters due to the burn, you may be in a lot more trouble than you think, though. I wouldn't recommend putting anything on any open wounds.
I got bad sunburn?! help?!?
there really isnt any way to make your skin heal faster. if you're burnt pretty bad, the best thing to do is keep putting aloe sunburn lotion or whatever else you like to use. you could try covering it with some makeup, depending on where you're burnt
Reply:alovera oh however you spell it.. everynight before you go to bed!! plus it'll help with the pain of the burn
Reply:aloe is the best for sunburns. you can buy the plant itself and cut off the leaves and put it directly on your skin!
Reply:Sunburn is like any other burn the severity depends on the exposure, to lesson the pain a home remedy is vingar blotted on the sun burn, cold compresses help as well, severe burns will of course peel.

to light the redness use an unscented talc powder. to cover it up completely you will ned to resort to some type of spray on tanning solution.

There are also some good cooling gels that help ease the burn as well, any of your stores, walmart, target, dollar general will carry them, good luck
Reply:sunburn, eh?

- drink fluids! *which everybodys supposed to anyway ;)*

- keeping skin moist also helps. aloes and lotion!

- make tea, cool it, then apply it to the burn (mint kinds recommended) it helps the healing process

- yogurt. yeah, really. apply plain yogurt w/ live cultures

good luck on the burn and the recital!

Sunburn cure?

I have a sunburn and I want to know the BEST possible cure. Please and thank you!
Sunburn cure?
Mashed strawberries. Strange, I know but it cools you down and leaves you smelling sweet. Don't forget to shower after as to avoid bugs.
Sunburn cure?
I don't know about a cure, but Aloe will help keep it moisturized and will prevent it from drying out too much, which is why sunburns are painful.
Reply:There really isn't a "cure" for sunburn other than not ever getting another one! To immediately releive the symptoms and take the sting out take a cool bath in vinegar, then slather baby oil on you before you dry off. Then try using an aloe based lotion several times a day until the sunburn is gone. My entire family suffers from sunburn anytime we are in the sun due to light skin and this has been a family treatment all my life and it really works, although you will walk around until the next day smelling like a tossed salad from the vinegar. Beware of too many sunburns as you will end up with skin cancer when you get older, my father is ate up with it and they say it is from his many years in the sun on flight lines when he was in the Air Force.
Reply:Aloe vera gel is most likely the most beneficial thing you'll find; at least over the counter. It should definitely help.

Sunburn plz help?

Fast way to heal sunburn Thank you
Sunburn plz help?
cold water is the best first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap is ideal. NEVER ice or vinegar or milk or butter or mustard or toothpaste or sunscreen or semen or vaseline or tomatoes or vanilla extract or yogurt or sour cream or egg white or lavender oil or cocoa butter or salt or tea or potato or shaving cream or olive oil or baking soda or banana peel or petroleum jelly or whipped cream or avocado or bacon grease- not until the skin is fully healed! ignore anyone who advises any of these!

i would advise that you cover the burnt area with sterile paraffin wax or aqueous cream bp. (check the links below and see if you can find a local equivalent)

cover the burnt area in paraffin wax after cleaning and removing any burst blisters - these are just sites of infection and will take longer to heal. wash and reapply every 4-6 hours - cover with cling wrap if you wish to cover with clothes - this will stop your clothes getting covered with paraffin and maintains the burn.

cling wrap alone is ok if you can't get hold of any paraffin. it also acts as a protective artificial skin - helping retain moisture and protect from further damage and pain. cling wrap is cheap and clean off the roll. in Australia ambulances often use this when someone has been burnt. - please note that cling wrap isn't always practical, like on your face.

paraffin creates a seal stopping water leaving the body and reduces pain as it protects sensitised nerves. the paraffin imitates the natural oils secreted by the skin. skin cells are better able to multiply and regenerate with this treatment. pain is also helped. make sure you buy plenty of this paraffin - as the burn heals switch to aqueous cream bp.(aqueous cream has a bunch of paraffin in it plus some moisturisers - look out for stuff that also contains sorbolene or glycerine as these help also). following this regime definitely will help your sunburn heal faster and peel less. aloe is good coz it remoisturises but that moisture can be quickly lost as the skin can't contain fluids- this is a function of healthy skin.

so put aloe on, and then the paraffin on over the top as long as there is no broken skin this works great. if there is broken skin leave out the aloe - just paraffin.

burns can cause heartburn/reflux/gastric ulcers (in more severe cases) - i have never heard the term 'sun poisoning' before but this maybe what some ppl are referring to. its quite unpleasant especially when combined with pain, thirst and more pain.

long term treatment to prevent scarring or loss of function due to contractures(as skin heals it can tighten reducing how much you can move - a skin graft is necessary to repair this). daily moisturiser, daily stretches - talk to a physio, pressure bandages like tubigrip, massaging the scar. this all reduce/flatten the scar and minimise the need for further treatment/surgery. always keeps scars out of the sun - always covered with clothing.

please note that this is an explanation based on the many questions that have been asked on yahoo answers. all treatments are used in hospital settings and when done correctly (by a health professional) hugely improve the outcomes of burns patients. it is not an opinion but medical advice

hope this helps - let me know how you go and what similar brands/alternatives are available in your area

email if you still have questions - send photos feedingthedogcustard@hotmail.com

finally if you are really worried go to a hospital that has a burns unit or plastic surgeons. anything more serious than sunburn should be seen by a burns trained doctor or nurse.
Sunburn plz help?
A sunburn has to heal itself, in the mean time pop a few motrin, put cool compresses on it. Do not put any lotions, oils, or anything like that, If you must use something use solarcane that takes the sting out.
Reply:aloe vera, cold compresses and a large glass of your favorite wine........................good luck and feel better.......... :)
Reply:some can use baking soda on the burn and some soak in a tub of cool water with a cup of corn starch
Reply:lather on the Aloe. they also make an aloe with lidocaine to help take the sting out. its ok. but mostly lay the aloe on decently thick the first few times. good luck
Reply:Time, and a lotion or better yet a spray that have aloe vera in it and lidocaine. Sunscreen next time, ok?

Good luck.
Reply:put a lotion with aloe vera on your skin and keep it moisturized and keep hydrated. The red should be gone by Monday morning.
Reply:Aloe vera, clear so you wont have random colors on your and no alochol or it will make it worse.
Reply:try that alole loation it helps.
Reply:put on as much aloe as you can because it will keep the burning down and it will also help prevent peeling. There is nothing you can do to just poof that burn away though
Reply:aloe will help but it will only make it feel better it wont make the redness go down. you should wear sunscreen thats ur best bet
Reply:put aloe plant on it or some burning spray
Reply:Preperation-H
Reply:in the shower pour APPLE CIDER vinegar over burn and let soak before rinsing off. do not wash or exfoliate it will help pain and peeling!

Sunburn like pain inside my belly??

I just want to know if anyone who has had children or is pregnant has anyone had like an internal sunburn like pain in the stomach thats quite irritating quite high up and to the side ??
Sunburn like pain inside my belly??
Sounds like heartburn.

I was told by my OB that Tums was totally safe to take during pregnancy. (It just calcium)
Sunburn like pain inside my belly??
It may be a stomach ulcer or acid reflux-sounds like the later. call your doctor or go to the emergency and get it checked up. Do not simply start taking medications-it may end up making the problem worse.

Sunburned-Feeling Skin?

Has anyone had or heard of someone having areas on their skin, like face or back, etc, that feels like it is sunburned or raw, but there is nothing there? Usually lasts from 1 to three days... Thanks :)
Sunburned-Feeling Skin?
If you are experiencing stress, it could be caused by incrreased adrenaline. Infrequently utilized cortisone injections may help decrease the pain.

Reply:No idea. Maybe an allergy? I didn't think your avater was ugly, just angry.
Reply:Could it be chaffing, chapping, windburn? I get that if I use any cream or cleanser with Vitamin E in it, so I guess I'm allergic. An allergy?
Reply:No.

Sunburnt and need help?

i had half an hour in the sun today on the last day before i fly home and accidently forgot the sunscreen. Ive burnt my chest and face, although my face isnt too bad my chest was pale to begin with and now looks red and has an occasional itching sensation.

The bad news is im sitting in the airport departures terminal set for a 14hour flight home. I have moisturiser handy and have been applying regularly (its an non-oil lotion so i am able to wear a shirt over the top fairly easily), i also have bottled water. Does anyone know of anything else i can do before or during the flight to stop it getting worse? - ive heard sitting down isn't the best thing for sunburn.

thanks.
Sunburnt and need help?
Try and get your hands on natural yogurt.. it's super for sunburn.

EDIT%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; you wanted answers didn't you who gives a stuff what other people think...

Reply:Two things.

100 percent aloe vera gel. you can also get it with lidocain for the pain.

ADVIL.

take four advils (800 mg) ibruprophen you should be able to get these at the airport.

avoid all other moisturizers. just the aloe vera gel.

try to sleep.

avoid scratching!!!!!

good luck.
Reply:vinegar works wonders, get a sachet and try

have a nice flight
Reply:well when i got sun burnt a few weeks ago i got told to rub tomatoes on it, they contain lycopene which soothes the skin and stop it from looking so red
Reply:if you can get an aloe vera plant this will give you instant relief and i mean instant, just slice open a leaf and rub the aloe vera sap into the sunburn, the pain will be gone in seconds, bring the plant home with you it will grow here to as a house plant
Reply:Cure for the itching (sorry!) is to bathe in water as hot as you can stand it for as long as possible. I burn regularly and it works for me. You have to bathe, not shower.

See if the tourist shop in the airport has aloe gel. Should look green. Given your situation, that's the only suggestion I've got.
Reply:Mmm, this isn't easy if your already at the aiport! If you can try and cool the sunburn down! Pop into the toilets, and dampen some tissue with water, and gently dab the affected areas to try and cool the skin down. Is there a chemist in the airport? See if they have any Solarcaine spray....this is great for spraying onto burns/sunburn, without having to touch or rub the skin, and will help to heal, as well as cool down the skin. It may also help if you can buy some antihistamine tablets to help reduce any itching!! the main thing though is to cool the skin down....as I said before, either dab with a damp tissue, or, if possible, shut yourself in a cubicle, and splash some water over the affected ares, and leave it to dry off naturally. The, as you have a long flight ahead of you, try and do the same thing during the flight, and apply the lotion as often as possible!
Reply:Hit duty free and take two asprin every four hours to get the sting out -

Also if they sell medicated aloe go apply before your plane boards or when you can hit the bathroom.

When you get home use a wash cloth in the shower and apply moisturizer - you will peel.
Reply:firstly get cold shower as often as you can! It would soothe your skin! And put ice too! That would get the redness of the sunburn.

There is a cream called, "Sudocream" or "Bepanthen", these two creams work so perfectly! I had sunburnt so badly too and i used these creams, and they are miracle!
Reply:Try to get some sudocreme! It's the best thing I've found for sunburn! Or try putting some ice on to cool it down! I've also heard that natural yogurt is very good though not tried it myself! Hope this helps!
Reply:When i went on holiday i had the same thing and although the itching is the most uncomfortable part, it means it is healing. I even had ot be rushed to casulty but they didnt do much but they told me ot buy some aloe vera and it really helped.

Sunburn that turned brown but itches!?

i got sunburn thats mostly brown now but it itches like crazy! wat is it! what can make it stop. oh and by the way its on my back so i dont think i can put lotion on my self there
Sunburn that turned brown but itches!?
get some aloe vera and have someone put it on your back for you. it will help wonders.

I have a sunburn now too that itches.
Sunburn that turned brown but itches!?
I'm from Florida and I know sunburns. Take something like Tylenol or Ibuprophen and get into the shower. Pour vinegar onto the sunburn. It will help. Also, get some aloe. It may be brown, but the itching (it's horrible, I know) means you will probably peel a bit. It's the tiny blisters coming up. No worries. Let it heal and get back out - but take it a bit slower to avoid the burn. Your skin will not get any more tan after 15 minutes. Get a base tan first to prevent burning. Burning causes too many problems in the future.

Try putting the vinegar into a spray bottle so you can spray it over your shoulder.
Reply:It would help if you could get someone to look at your back, and lightly run their hands over it. If there are any raised bumps, you should get to a doctor ASAP - these could be moles or even skin cancer starting. (It's probably not, but it's better to be safe than sorry - catch it early and it's easy to treat.)

When you get sunburned, the outermost portion of your skin dies off. Usually, this peels off, but sometimes it just hardens in place and gets dry, tight, and itchy.

I suggest you get a long-handled back brush, and scrub your back GENTLY in the shower or bath with a nice moisturizing soap or bath gel. After you towel off, you can slip a cotton sock over the business end of the back brush, squirt some lotion on it, and reach your back that way. (You can keep the lotion-covered sock in the bathroom and use it several times before throwing it in the wash.) The combination of warm water, exfoliation, and moisturizing lotion, done every day or even twice a day, will probably be enough to ease the itching.

If the itching is more severe, a lotion that has an antihistamine (such as Benadryl) or a cortisone ingredient will be most helpful.
